The Whites M6 electronics is one of the easiest to use high power detector for the professional and the novice to use. I found this detector to be very powerful and fast to setup for coin hunting. I have been using detectors or over 40 years and I have used most of the brands of detectors. The M6 has the same power as the Whites MXT and goes just as deep MXT. This detector is very stable at high sensibility. This is very important for finding the old and deep coins. The best thing the M6 have is the seven tones for different metals.

This feature is very useful for hunting coins at night and you also have the ID meter and tones to help identify good items in the ground. One thing I like about the M6 is the ground balance control. All you have to do is point the coil in the air; click the switch to air, and you will get a beep. The next thing is to put the coil on the ground that is clean of metal, set the switch to ground, and hear a beep. Now this is one way I ground balance the M6. I set the switch to auto ground and the detector will ground balance it self. Now how simple can it get.

With the M6 you can use all the coils for the MXT and DFX. You will have a lot of coils to choose from. I like the 6 inch coil for hunting coins. The super 12 coil will detect very old and very deep coins.

One big secret is the M6 is a very capable relic and gold detector. The super 12 and the 14 inch coil is what I use for relic hunting. I use the 6 inch and super 12 coils for gold. As with any detector if it is fun to use it will be used a lot.

The M6 is easy for the novice to use and powerful enough for the professional. This detector is nearly a do all detector.

I purchased new a White's M6, I choose this detector as for me, its excellent for the beginner and even great for a seasoned hunter. I had absolutely no problems learning this machine, I love the look of it, the feel of it and how well it perform for me in the field. I found over 1,000 regular coins at a closed down bar's parking lot, along with a beautiful mens sterling very heavy chain. This machine was right on the money on the target id and pinpointing is so easy as well with the M6.

I have also used this on the beaches in beach mode and have enjoyed finding rings, coins and plain old just enjoying myself being able to go out and hunt. Its the thrill of the hunt that makes it the best for me along with my M6. I just love finding goodies and recommend this detector to anyone who is considering metal detecting. Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would find over 1200 coins in less then 6 months. This is one of the best hobbies and one of the best detectors to use. Thank you and Happy Hunting to all.

I've been using my M6 for about eight months now and I am very pleased with the ease of use and dependability of my White’s M6. I usually hunt parks and schools for coins and jewelry now, but I want to continue to grow in my experience with hunting for Civil War relics and Texas history.

Living around Houston, there are a lot of sites that show promise even though there are many places that are off limits to metal detecting. There is a lot of early Texas history around me, some accessible and some not. The research of these sites is very invaluable and information is sometimes hard to run down.

With my M6, I find it very easy to search quickly or if I have the time, to search slowly. I own the standard nine inch coil and a 4x6 DD coil which I use most of the time due to its ability to pick targets out of the trash. The signals are more clearly noted with the 4x6 coil and I think the depth is better than the stock coil. Recently, I purchased a sunray pinpointer for my M6 and so far I really like the concept and ease of use. Not to mention the depth of the sun ray.

I also own the Vibraprobe 560 and still carry it with me when I hunt but mostly as a backup. The combination of the M6 and DX-1 sunray probe is to me the best pairing of technologies giving the best results and cutting my recovery time by at least half. White’s, in my opinion make the best detectors in the industry.

First, let me set my point of reference. I am new to the world of MD, even though I have wanted to try for the longest time. I did a basic amount of research before buying White's Prism V. I ended up leaning heavily on the salesperson's recommendation when I bought.

However, I found that I was having a problem with ground mineralization in my area and the PV did not have any ground balancing features. So, I traded up from the Prizm V to the M6.

For the additional money, the additional features are well worth it. The M6 is powerful for its class yet as simple to use as they come. The MD has an auto ground balancing feature with the ability to lock the balance or set for salt/beach mode.

The discrimination and the sensitivity are knob controls, so no digital menu nightmares. The tone id is basic in search mode, but also offers a multi tone mode with pairs nicely with your discrimination level. The all-metal mode gets louder and higher pitched as you pinpiont, a great help to someone who is a newbie.

The tone id and all metal/PP mode are on the "trigger" so that it is always within reach. The machine itself is noticeably heavier than the PV, but not so heavy as to fatigue you when you are searching all day. The M6 appears to "find the deep ones" but I have no other frame of reference than the PV (perhaps other manufacturers are better/worse but I do not know).

I am sure there are better MD's, cheaper MD's and more featured MD's, but for a newbie, the M6 is a winner.

It can’t get any easier than turning it on, pumping the coil a few times and listening to the tones. Perhaps, some day I'll regret not going with the DFX or the MXT with their features and flexibility, but for now, I'm happy learning the hobby and digging up my fair share of coins.

I purchased my White's M6 metal detector from Kellyco about 10 months ago. I wanted a good detector to start off with as I am new to the hobby. Boy does this detector meet all my expectations.

I like to detect mostly in the sandy beach areas of my state which are numerous. In the ten month period that I have had my M6 I have probably only used it about 10 times due to work restraints but it has lived up to its reputation. I have found various US coins from pennies up to dollars, rings, watches, necklaces, earrings and other items totalling over $300. I have also found numerous foreign coins.

Not bad for a beginner with infrequent use. The detector is very easy to use with a toggle switch for automatic tuning with 3 settings. The discriminator works very well and blocks out those iron items while still allowing recovery of coins and jewelry. It has a graphic id screen that is very accurate and I usually dig up what is depicted on the screen. The last item that was shown on my screen was a nickel; but how was I to know that it would turn out to be a 1937 buffalo nickel! The coil is waterproof so I can also go into the surf for a foot or two and search that area.

It is also very lightweight and I can stay on the beach for hours with no fatigue. While I prefer the beach areas I have also used my detector in backyards and forest areas. I have found numerous coins and other items in these areas as well. It is a very versatile, all around detector. I would highly recommend this detector to beginners and veterans alike. It is very easy to use, yet has many high end features. I can't wait until the new season begins!
