This is one of the lightest detectors out there. If you can’t cope with this one, then there is no hope for you. lol. The Garrett Ace 250 is an awesome machine for the money. It is really lightweight, great on batteries (4 AA), and you will be pulling out coins all day from parks etc. It’s not a deep detector. I'd say that it’s about 6-7" with standard coil and a bit more with 9 x 12" coil on.

The Garrett ACE 250 is very easy to use. The setup was also easy. It finds coins, but is very unbalanced. Your arm will start hurting after fifteen to twenty minutes, and you have to keep switching arms.

The Garrett Ace 250 is really easy to use. I am new at detecting but I was finding all kinds of stuff within minutes after watching the instructional DVD. I did a lot of research before buying a detector and this has the best features for the money. This detector even has the pin pointer button which locks right in on your target. The standard coil has no problem reading targets at 8+ inches but I was not in the mood to dig that far down. So far, with only a few hours logged, I have found several coins, old artifacts, and even my first piece of jewelry. Oh, and lots of other junk too, but do not be discouraged. It happens to everyone. I also found this detector to be very easy to swing and my arm never got tired. I recommend this detector to anyone getting started or looking for something with extra features at a lower cost.
