When I bought the Garrett Predator II in 2002, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and affordability of this machine. I was living in Naples, Florida and did some beach hunting. I found many coins with ease and also a large solid silver dragon which I sold for $30.00. I find the discrimination is excellent in this detector. I have also found a solitaire ring under a pier, and now that I live in Tennessee I am finding all types of other items. I still find mostly coins so I am considering trying my hand at relic hunting. There are many old battlefields around here from the Civil War. Now, if I could only find a confederate or union belt buckle, perhaps, I would sell it and buy any detector I wish. Perhaps a White!

The Predator II, made by Garrett, is another metal detector Garrett has custom made for entry level users as well as anyone looking for a mid priced all purpose metal detector. With its light weight and ease-of-use, it is perfect for people who don’t want to spend too much money on a high priced detector with a lot of knobs, buttons and no better performance then you can find on this Predator II.

It has very simple controls consisting of an off/on switch with depth control and a second discrimination knob with factory presets so you don’t even have to think what you want to tune out. Just turn the knob to where it indicates how much junk and trash you want to eliminate. When you use the off/on sensitivity knob the further you turn clockwise, you get more sensitivity which gives you maximum depth control.

The Predator II has a very accurate pinpointing feature on it using dual laser lights and a Bullseye pictured on an LCD screen it allows you to pinpoint all your good targets exactly under the new 8.5” Predator search coil where your treasure is. The laser lights on either side of your control panel lets you know when there is a target in the ground that is very deep and cannot be picked up by the audio circuit.

The search coil is waterproof, submersible and very versatile since it has multiple inner windings that most search coils do not have. The outer windings will allow you to find your coins, jewelry and relics, while the middle and inner windings will zero in on smaller coins and jewelry.

For the price and performance, this detector is a great buy and I rate it five stars out of five.

I'm really happy with the Garrett Predator! I like finding coins and jewelry, it’s easy to tune and it tells me what the treasure is and how deep it is!

It’s got an ID meter, discrimination and fine tunings on it. I've found coins, jewelry, and other things with it. It’s a good detector and I would recommend to all. Kellyco is also great they bend over backwards for you! They are excellent!

I had the opportunity to live and metal detect in Europe. My husband and I lived in Germany. He is German and I am American. I love finding coins, jewelry , relics. The Predator II was so easy to operate, I was finding things immediately.

I even found a post key that had been lost for some years and a WWII lunch container that my husband had filled with play money and buried when he was eight years old. I also found some farm implements that we took to the local museum who advised they were about two hundred years old and gave me permission to keep them. We vacationed at Kuehlungsborn which is in the former East Germany.

I decided to go metal detecting on the Baltic Sea. I found some small coins from the former East Germany. I also found some lids, forks etc.... I then got the bright idea to go out on the pilings.I walked out with absolutely no problems. However on the return trip back, the pilings turned out to be extremely slippery. I fell into the Baltic sea, which at the time was about 64 degrees and it was an extreme shock. The metal detector was totally submerged into the cold water. My husband was very scared as he thought I had hit the pilings on my way down, but thankfully I was okay.

I was in about waist deep water and it was so cold. I waded out of the water and gave the metal detector to my husband who dried it off. We then went back to the vacation rental for me to dry off. I tested the metal detector and it worked fine. I continued to use the Predator II for the rest of our vacation without any problems whatsoever. I would recommend this detector to anyone wanting a relatively inexpensive detector that can produce excellent results. The detector gave me outstanding service and loads of fun.
