I love my Garrett GTI 2500 metal detector. Target depth and discrimination, value, and attention to detail are unrivaled. My Garrett GTI Pro Package was shipped with nine inch and twelve inch imaging search coils, headphones, a molded foam and cordura carry case, instructional DVD, and an invaluable pocket sized user manual for carry into the field.

My two favorite pursuits are coin shooting and relic hunting. Garrett target sizing adds a third dimension to coin shooting which greatly enhances efficiency. The ability to rule out non-coin sized targets displaying coin-like conductance results in a much greater coins dug to trash ratio over other detectors. Relic hunting is made easy with an excellent factory preloaded Relic program and the twelve inch coil for excellent target depth. On my first relic hunting outing I was lucky enough to find two lead pistol balls and an old pistol barrel.

Factory preloaded programs include Coin, Jewelry, Relic, all metal modes. Custom programming is available for the expert level detectorist. Menu access is intuitive and user friendly. The capability of this machine gives me the confidence to know when I search an area, I will find what I am looking for. If there is a coin to be found, I will find it with careful search technique. In my first month of ownership, I searched an old park where my now deceased father told my son and I he played as a child. While searching around some old playground equipment I got a solid Garrett "Beltone" signaling a possible quarter on the conductance scale. Target sizing confirmed a coin sized target at three inches depth.

Looks like a quarter, smells like a quarter, must be a quarter. I dug a four inch flap and carefully removed dirt from the bottom of the flap revealing my first ever silver. This silver turned out to be a sentimental find for me in that it was a silver quarter minted in 1939, the year of my father's birth, saved six months after he passed away. While I don't have any reason to believe the quarter belonged to him, it is very special because of the history of the park and it is my first silver save.

All in all a great find with my Garrett GTI 2500.

After owning the Garrett GTI 2500 metal detector unit and several others for 1 1/2 years, I can say I am very pleased with the performance of the GTI 2500. I own most of the coils for the GTI, and have discovered how versatile this unit really is. I coin shoot and prospect, to my surprise my GTI actually picked up gold better than one of my more expensive and respected gold only machine. The GTI 2500 does a very respectable job of nugget shooting, also it is just a great all around detector. It is very easy to switch between all metal and disc mode, this unit has a lot of features that most detectors do not. I also tested the GTI against 5 other top of the line detectors in all metal mode and the GTI detected the deepest of all of my VLF units, which was a big surprise to me! As I was not expecting that result, if you want an all around detector then this is you machine...

The Garrett GTI 2500 works like a dream, with its target ID and depth indicators on the screen, it practically does all the work for you. If it had an automatic digger, you would be set...

It’s kind of pricey, but if you work on the retailer enough, most of the time you can be the pro-pak and detector. That includes the larger coil, bag, and some other little goodies. The only drawback that I see with the GTI 2500 is the fact that it is too convenient; you are tricked into using one of the preset discriminate settings. By using the "Coin" mode or "Jewelry" mode, you miss most iron objects, and some bullets. Even the "Relic" mode, you will miss a lot of stuff that an old TR detector or Using "All Metal" mode would find. The "All metal" mode is great, but you find everything. This isn’t a detector for the newbie, or in experienced hunter.

It takes a while to get used to the ability of this powerhouse, and will make plenty of mistakes and miss a lot of stuff if you don't know what you’re doing. All in all, a five to eight year experienced hunters dream. Upgrade from your ace 250 or GTI 1250 and you will be surprised at the power on ability of this detector.

I am new to metal detecting, out in the fields for one year, but I have been detecting in my mind since I was a kid. Now that I'm retired, I have the time to get serious about it. The Garrett GTI 2500 detector I chose allows me to do just that; a turn on and go. I coin-shoot farm fields for big coppers and Spanish reales; doing well so far, but must give credit to my detector's uncanny ability to find those deep coins that others find elusive. Five stars for this detector, as it makes up for my lack of experience.

Using this detector will lay history in your hands day after day. If this is your goal, to feel the tangible, the excitement of discovery, this is the detector you want. It does the work -- you reap the rewards. This is a multi-hunting detector. I have been on the beach, in old cellar holes and fields of old battle for relics. It works like a champ every time.

So, if you’re looking for an all-around-detector with experience, this baby will not let you down! Try it for yourself. It will take you deeper than you've gone before and bring you back with a prize. It works every time. When I'm not detecting, I have to take the batteries out of it or it's gone off detecting without me --- that's how good this detector is in my mind.

Here's to good hunting.

I use both a Garrett GTA 1000 and the Garrett GTI 2500. Each has a "DD" coil and an Ellptical Coil. I have used both on trips to England, plus on many hunts such as regularly detecting school parks and historical places.

On hunts such as these I need speed and ground coverage, plus pinpointing. The meter on these Garrett machines is easy to read - a bell tone for high conductivity items, etc. They're also light weight, even with their battery packs, and have easy-to-change coils.
