After spending thousands of dollars on detectors, I finally found the one that has it all. It is lightweight and very easy to use. It also has the best discrimination and PINPOINTS LIKE A DREAM.

The tones are a pleasure to listen to. Also, one of the many great improvements of this machine is the great depth you get even on factory presets. The FISHER CZ3D is a work horse. It is built tough, has much longer battier life, and has several coils that love coins that are deep an out of reach of other machines. I have had good luck with the 10.5 coil IN TRASH!

It discriminates and separates that well. The 8inch coil is great for any hunting and goes just as deep as the Explorer SE 10in. coil and that is in factory presets! It is so easy to use. You just turn your dis. low or off and then listen to the sounds of targets as you go over them. Try to get the high tones to hit every direction if they do not move on.

Coins hit every direction. Another great thing about the CZ3D is you can watch the meter as you slowly sweep over a target were it goes on the scale. Once you know the range of coins you got it made. Did I mention that the CZ3D is a killer on nickels? Well, I can brag the Fisher CZ3D up all I want because I love the machine and have the finds to prove it.

I have been metal detecting for about 30 years, and it just gets to be more of an obsession year after year.

Four years ago I bought my Fisher CZ3D and in my opinion is one of the best for finding the old coins and one of the deepest. I hunt old house yards, school yards, parks, and an old fairgrounds. I also have permission to hunt an area that has been a ghost town since 1839.

When I hunt with the CZ3D I always use it in the enhanced mode. That old fairgrounds is just loaded with trash. That is the place I always go to learn a detector. After you dig so much trash it doesn't take long to you know what you detector is telling you. This machine finds coins as deep or deeper than any of the other machines I've had.

I found a little over 100 silver coins last year just form that old fair grounds alone, thats not counting any of the other places I hunted. The CZ3D is a 4 tone machine, and gives a high tone on coins. The meter also tells you if it is coins or not, it also tells you how deep the target is. Now many machines registers a nickel in with the pull tabs the CZ3d reads them as a nickel in high tone, so you find all the nickels that people have left behind because they don,t want to dig tabs.

There are at least 3 coils for this machine, 8", 10' and the 4". I have had many machines this past couple of years but they have been sold and the CZ3D remains my main detector

The Fisher CZ - 3D is my first new detector in over 15 years. If you have been detecting for a while you probably have a favorite brand and machine that has produced good results for you over the years. It is important to remember that metal detecting is technology driven and manufacturers are constantly experimenting and improving their offerings.

It is important to jump out of your comfort zone once in a while and see what is new in the real world. The Fisher CZ - 3D actually offers the best of both worlds. It is based on the firm foundation of many years of great Fisher CZ detectors and has the improved punch of technology to make it a coin killing machine. The literature claims it is "maximized for finding older coins at older sites".

I almost think I cheated by purchasing the Thomas Dankowski dvd, "Metal Detecting, Real World Techniques, Inland Coin and Relic Hunting". Even before my new detector arrived, I had seen it in action both in a test garden and on a "real world hunt". The CZ -3D arrived in a box that seemed too small but was quickly assembled and ready to go with the two supplied 9 volt batteries already in the machine.

Set up and ground balancing was very well explained and in no time I was ready to do some digging. I decided to visit some familiar ground with the CZ -3D. I found the audio signals easy to understand. It is tone id at it's best. The video helped me understand the tones that I was hoping to hear. On my first hunt I dug everything and used the meter only to verify what the tones were telling me.

My first good target signal a clear, high pitched, sharp coin sound. Pinpointing was simple, just going for the loudest and highest pitched sound to center on the coin. I was surprised to dig an antique pocket watch at a depth of five inches. I enjoyed listening to the id, guessing what it was telling me and then digging the target to verify

I was very pleased that my first coin was a 1945 war nickel. The signal was crisp the depth was great and knew that it was something good before I dug the coin. i didn't walk away from my first hunt with pockets of coins, but I did leave with the confidence that nickels, gold jewelry and coins were more in my grasp than ever before.

If you like to hunt for old coins, and who doesn't, the Cz-3D is a great choice. I am from a landlocked state, but the salt water mode switch on the detector makes me want to head for the beach. I really like the idea that the CZ-3D gives me a salt water option if and when I get the chance to try some beach hunting.

The Fisher CZ-3D has four tones plus a large target or shallow target bell tone. I always set my DISC control to "3" or "0" if you set it too high you lose the rings and nickels. I let my ears do the discrimination between the "4" tones. The CZ-3D can be used on the beach or on dry land or salt water or fresh water, because it has two modes "SALT" and "ENHANCE" The CZ-3D is the best all around mid priced detector. I LOVE IT ! SO WILL YOU !

One of the most important tips." READ OPERATING MANUAL" I search for coins most of the time. I've found two nice rings, several silver quarters & dimes. The CZ-3D has "Turn-On-And-Go-Red-Numbered controls. Just set all the controls to the red number and you are ready to hunt. The control panel is easy to read and I like the two search modes,Target ID & Autotone. Personally I like the autotone mode, it gives you a wider and deeper scan. When you get a high tone target, pinpoint it and switch the DIS CONTROL to "0" to identify it.

When detecting in the autotone mode, ground balancing is very easy. Turn the DIC control to autotone, turn sensitivity control until you get a slight hum or threshold. Now is the time to adjust the GROUND control by moving the coil up & down "6" to "12" inches above the dirt. Raise and lower coil , as stated above until there is little or no change in threshold while adjusting the ground control. This is called BOBBING the search coil method.

I have been detecting for over 8 years. I started detecting in Germany while stationed overseas and my first detector was a Fisher CZ-6. It took me a couple of weeks to figure out how to physically use the detector and another three months to figure out how to find good locations to hunt. Once I learned both things, I started finding some really incredible relics including medieval spurs, arrowheads, daggers, knives, silver coins, just to name a few. Before I returned to the States, I also purchased a Whites detector to focus on finding coins.

I moved back to the USA and continued detecting in Georgia, Virginia, and Kansas using my Fisher. I also purchased a Nautilus detector to detect hunted out civil war camps. Although, I learned how to use both the Whites and Nautilus, I still used my CZ-6 for most of my detecting. I was very successful finding buckles, box plates, thousands of minnies, and buttons including a rare Tennessee state using the Fisher.

Two years ago, I moved back to Germany and once again started detecting. I purchased a CZ-3D (which is very similar to the CZ-6) and have been hunting French Revolution camps and medieval roads near the house. Once again, I have found some very incredible finds including Roman coins, medieval daggers, arrow heads, knights spurs, Napoleonic buttons, just to name a few. I still use my Nautilus once in a while but I rely on my CZ-3D for most of my detecting.

The CZ-3D is in my opinion the best all around relic detector on the market. It is simple to use and does a good job discriminating good relics from junk. It is reliable and can find a variety of metal types including iron, silver, bronze, copper, gold, and tin. Some detectors are way too sensitive or discriminate too much. The CZ-3D is the happy medium that allows the detectorist to find good areas to hunt and then focus on close searching.
